Upgraded Ultrasonic Wind Sensor from Vaisala

Vaisala introduces a new version of the wind sensor, the Vaisala WINDCAP^® Ultrasonic Wind Sensor WMT52 developed for measuring horizontal wind speed and direction. The sensor has no moving parts, no field calibration is required, and therefore, it is virtually maintenance-free.

The WMT52 housing with the mounting kit is water resistant and classified as IP66. The transmitter has a new interface card that fulfills the more demanding EMC/ESD requirements in the Marine IEC60945 standard. The WMT52 complies with the EMC standard EN61326-1; Industrial Environment. The transmitter is ROHS compliant.

Optional features are offered for the WMT52, for example, heating and a bird spike kit. The wind sensor can be equipped with heating to improve the availability of correct measurement data also in severe weather conditions. The bird spike kit helps deter birds from the WMT52.

The WMT52 is designed for numerous applications where inexpensive wind measurement is needed, especially for marine applications but also for meteorology, wind energy, transport, pollution control, and agriculture.
