Vaisala has manufactured and sold radiosondes since 1936, when the company was founded by Professor Väisälä. Since 1936, Vaisala has steadily developed radiosondes and pioneered the technological development of the sensors, offering evolutionary improvements in pressure, temperatue and humidity measurement (PTU), and wind. Today we offer two radiosonde families, the RS80 and the RS92.

For many years, the RS80 has been the basic device of upper-air weather observation around the world, and now the modern era in sounding is being measured with the Vaisala  Radiosonde RS92. It offers the world’s highest level of PTU measurement performance and continuous wind data availability.  Vaisala continues on constantly developing and improving the latest RS92 radiosonde family and the equipment related to it.
